A few have asked what my thesis is about so here is my abstract and concept statement thus far.. any critiques on these would be welcome as well because these are rough drafts and need tweaking.. so if you are a tweaker any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.. I do not get insulted easily so honest criticism is desired!! thanks in advance for reading them!!

    ABSTRACT:
My Theory of Relativity and Our Existence Here in Ectopia is going to be a fine art series of images consisting of 20 triptychs of the suburbs surrounding New York City at night. The intent of these images will be to make the viewer ponder existence and the current state of the environment that we as the human race exist within. The series will be highly conceptual and the visual subject matter of houses will symbolically represent mankind. The use of a wide-angle lens will distort the images while allowing large areas of the sky and the celestial bodies to be included within the images. The colors will be highly saturated and the images will be shot digitally and printed on metallic glossy paper.

    CONCEPT STATEMENT:
My Theory of Relativity and Our Existence Here in Ectopia:
Night Shots of the Suburbs Outside of NYC

The images created for My Theory of Relativity and Our Existence Here in Ectopia will be highly conceptual and based in the genre of Fine Art Photography. The intent for the series will be to make the viewer think about what it means to exist here in this time as a human being. The final series will consist of 20 triptychs meant for gallery display and inclusion in a text written by me titled the same name as the series.
The title of the series when broken down will fully explain the concept behind the images. My theory of relativity is meant to explain my personal beliefs that all things are relative in their existences to each other, the words are also meant to play on Einstein’s theory of relativity. Our Existence Here is meant to explain my visual study of the idea of existence through the medium of photography and what it means to be a finite being with an idea of infinity. While the term ectopia is included to describe the environment in which we are currently living, comparing it to that of an ectopic pregnancy and relating the human race to the doomed embryo that is firstly unaware of itself, and secondly that it is creating an environment unsuitable to its own development.
The style of the images will be highly saturated colors of the suburban setting shot vertically with a super wide-angle lens. Three images will be shot and displayed next to each other in a triptych format slightly or dramatically skewed so that the viewer must make mental connections to unify the images. The subject matter will be mankind vs. reality, self, and environment. Through the use of symbolism, the houses in my images will be directly analogous to man and the power lines will be analogous to umbilical cords, while the celestial bodies and the clouds included in the images will represent themselves and add to the overall tone being set by the particular triptych. The inclusion of the yards and street activity or lack thereof will also play crucial roles in the overall development of the series. Through the use of multiple digital tripoded captures of the same scene the images will be stacked and edited in Photoshop cs3.
My images and concept are directly influenced by my education so far in philosophy, science, mathematics, history and sociology. The piece of artwork most inspiring to this series is Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The final suite will be highly detailed imagery of the suburban night steeped in symbolism and aesthetically presented in crisp highly saturated shots. This series is my attempt to marry my philosophies on life and existence with my favorite artistic medium photography

The image of a dogs mouth for sexual release in place of a womans vagina is disgusting the mental picture is disturbing. This alliteration is made for a very deliberate reason and if we all really read the poem we know why, she, the poet, is by no means dumb, I know this because we have been speaking extensively all day long. The right to say whatever we want is not truth it is an illusion, if we all really fully believed in the freedom of speech then no one would have responded to me in my right to give response to her work. Now this is no mere comparison in coloring alone it was a comparison of environment.. this is art and poetry and it is real, well at least to me it is, and we have to be responsible for our words.. as a black woman I am offended and I have that right.. stop questioning me on that and defending her, she does not even defend herself, she is embarrassed that it was even bought to light, she hates the words herself.. because they are ugly and they make an ugly statement, one she is not ready to stand next to, and one I am not ready to read and just let go...

I do not know if I have never really looked before.. but this site has a twinge of unchecked racism to it that makes me sad. I love what this site represents, kind of like how I love what this country represents, but what happens in its practices lets me know there is a lot more road to travel before certain idealizations are realized. When certain statements are allowed to go unchecked and when [link] gets a DD and when I open my messages and the hot topic is an interview that the VP did not have sense enough to have done over but even more that the interviewer was dumb enough to think his/her questions were funny.. well it bothers me. Would I get a DD for creating artwork that made horrible blanketing statements about other races?.. no. There are far more worthy artists on here then some silly young teen who obviously has no talent. I also had others give me their opinions and they agreed the work was a bit juvenile and very offensive. I am not one for political correctness all of the time but I am one for watching what I say and thinking of those that my words might affect. DA is starting to disappoint me and I hope it starts to do a bit better, no DA you cannot and should not censor the art uploaded here but you should be more selective of what you spotlight to be great work, especially when it is not, because now you have to justify your decision and stand by it.
